xenophiles

Lovers of otherness

Xenophiles are people who are attracted to foreign peoples, cultures, or customs.

The term combines Greek roots meaning "foreign" and "love"—the opposite of xenophobes.

A xenophile might collect art from distant cultures, seek out immigrant neighborhoods for authentic cuisine, or prefer traveling to unfamiliar places: She's such a xenophile—she's learned bits of six languages just from her travels.
