wryneck
Bird turning heads
Wryneck names a small woodpecker that twists its neck in snakelike motions when disturbed—a defensive display that gives the bird its name.
In medicine, wryneck is a condition where the neck muscles contract abnormally, tilting the head to one side.
Also called torticollis: The baby was born with wryneck but responded well to physical therapy.
