worry dolls
Tiny Guatemalan confidants
Worry dolls are tiny handmade figures, traditionally from Guatemala, given to children to place under their pillow at night.
The child tells one worry to each doll before sleeping, and supposedly the dolls take the worries away by morning.
They're usually sold in sets of six in a small pouch or box: She kept her worry dolls in a matchbox on her nightstand.
