wooden decoy
Hunter's false bird
A wooden decoy is a carved figure, typically of a duck or other waterfowl, used by hunters to attract live birds within shooting range.
Decoys float on water and mimic the appearance of resting birds.
Antique wooden decoys, especially those by known carvers, have become collectible folk art: The auction featured hand-painted wooden decoys from the Chesapeake Bay region.
