went missing

Can't be found

Went missing means to disappear or become lost, often under unexplained or concerning circumstances.

The phrase typically describes people whose whereabouts become suddenly unknown: Her daughter went missing three days ago.

It can also apply to objects: My keys went missing sometime yesterday.

More common in British English than American, where "went missing" competes with "disappeared" or "got lost."
