weaponization
Turning into armament
Weaponization is the process of turning something into a weapon or using it as one.
Nuclear material undergoes weaponization when made into bombs.
More often the term is figurative: the weaponization of information, of social media, of the justice system.
The implication is that something neutral or benign has been repurposed for attack: the weaponization of victimhood, weaponized incompetence.
