water torture
Drip-based cruel interrogation
Water torture is a method of inflicting pain or extracting confessions by using water—dripping it slowly onto the forehead, forcing it into the mouth and nose, or submerging the victim.
The term extends to any prolonged, maddening drip: The leaky faucet was water torture.
Waterboarding is the most notorious modern form.
