watch parties
Communal viewing events
A watch party is a gathering where people view something together—a sports game, TV premiere, election results, or awards show.
The term gained currency with streaming platforms that let remote viewers sync playback: We're hosting a watch party for the finale.
The social element matters as much as the content itself.
