washstands
Pitcher and bowl holders
Washstands are pieces of furniture designed to hold a basin and pitcher for washing, common in bedrooms before indoor plumbing.
The typical washstand had a flat top for the basin, a lower shelf for the pitcher, and sometimes a towel bar or small drawers.
Now mostly antiques or decorative pieces: The guest room featured a Victorian washstand with marble top.
