wall box
Flush-mounted electrical housing
A wall box is an electrical enclosure mounted on a wall, typically housing outlets, switches, or charging equipment.
The term most commonly refers to home electric vehicle charging stations: We installed a wall box in the garage for the new EV.
In electrical work, it also means the recessed box behind a wall plate that contains wiring connections.
