wait-a-bit

Hooked thorn plant

Wait-a-bit is any of various thorny shrubs or vines whose hooked spines snag clothing and slow passage through brush.

The name describes the experience: you walk into one and have to wait a bit while you unhook yourself.

Common in Africa and the American South, applied to different species depending on region.
