Trudge through water
To wade is to walk through water or another substance that offers resistance, typically at a depth that doesn't require swimming: We waded across the shallow stream.
By extension, to wade through something is to make slow, effortful progress: I spent the weekend wading through tax documents.
To wade in or wade into is to enter forcefully or without hesitation, often into a conflict or difficult situation: She waded into the debate with strong opinions. (Capitalized Wade is a given name or surname.)
