vote manipulation
Corrupting ballot counts
Vote manipulation is the artificial inflation or deflation of votes, ratings, or popularity metrics through illegitimate means.
On social media and content platforms, this includes using bots, fake accounts, or coordinated groups to upvote or downvote content: The subreddit was banned for vote manipulation.
In elections, vote manipulation encompasses ballot stuffing, suppression tactics, or altering counts.
The term implies circumventing systems designed to reflect genuine collective opinion.
