volcanic belts
Linear magma regions
Volcanic belts are elongated zones of volcanic activity, typically occurring where tectonic plates meet or where magma rises through the Earth's crust.
The most famous is the Pacific Ring of Fire, encircling the Pacific Ocean.
These belts mark regions of frequent eruptions, earthquakes, and geothermal activity: The Andes lie along a major volcanic belt.
