vitamin deficiencies
Lacking essential nutrients
Vitamin deficiencies are conditions where the body lacks sufficient amounts of one or more vitamins, causing health problems ranging from fatigue to serious disease.
Historically, specific deficiencies had names: scurvy from lack of vitamin C, rickets from vitamin D, beriberi from B1.
Modern usage often appears in plural because multiple vitamins may be low simultaneously: Blood tests revealed several vitamin deficiencies.
