vintage year
Wine's birth date
A vintage year is a year in which wine grapes were harvested, used to identify and date wines: The 1982 vintage year produced exceptional Bordeaux.
By extension, it describes any period that produced something of outstanding quality: 1967 was a vintage year for British rock music.
The phrase implies that some years yield better results than others.
