uprating

Increasing power output

Uprating is increasing the power output, capacity, or official rating of something—typically machinery, engines, or electrical systems.

A turbine might be uprated to generate more electricity; an engine uprated to produce more horsepower.

In British usage, uprating also applies to raising benefit payments or pensions: The government announced an uprating of state pensions in line with inflation.
