unthreading
Pulling string out
Unthreading is the act of removing thread from a needle, or more broadly, withdrawing something that has been passed through an opening or series of openings.
You unthread a needle, unthread a belt from its loops, or unthread film from a projector.
Figuratively, it can mean disentangling or extracting oneself from a complicated situation: She spent months unthreading herself from the failed partnership.
