unthink

Reverse a thought

To unthink is to reverse or undo a thought—to push something out of one's mind or withdraw a mental commitment.

The word acknowledges that some thoughts, once formed, resist dismissal: Once you've seen it, you can't unthink it.

It also means to reconsider what was previously assumed: We need to unthink our assumptions about growth.
