unstretching

Returning to shape

Unstretching describes the act of returning from a stretched state to a relaxed or original position.

A cat unstretching after a nap settles back into itself.

The word can also describe releasing tension: She finished unstretching her neck and shoulders before returning to work.

Less commonly, it means removing something from a stretched condition.
