unplugged album
No amplifiers allowed
An unplugged album is a recording featuring acoustic performances of songs that were originally recorded with electric instruments and amplification.
The format became popular after MTV's *Unplugged* series in the 1990s, where artists performed stripped-down versions in intimate settings: Their unplugged album went platinum.
The acoustic arrangements often reveal new dimensions in familiar songs.
