unity cup
Shared ceremonial chalice
A unity cup is a ceremonial vessel used in Kwanzaa celebrations, from which family members drink to honor ancestors and reinforce collective purpose.
Called *kikombe cha umoja* in Swahili, it is passed among participants during the holiday's rituals.
Unity cups also appear in some African American wedding ceremonies, where the couple drinks together to symbolize their joined lives.
