unclutch
Loosen your grip
To unclutch is to release a grip or hold, the opposite of clutching.
In driving, it means to disengage the clutch pedal: Unclutch slowly as you shift into second.
Figuratively, to unclutch is to let go of something held tightly—physically or emotionally: She finally unclutched the letter she'd been gripping.
