trunk release
Boot-opening mechanism
Trunk release is the mechanism that opens a car's trunk from inside the vehicle, typically a lever or button near the driver's seat.
Since 2002, U.S. regulations have also required an emergency release inside the trunk itself—a glow-in-the-dark handle allowing anyone trapped inside to escape: She found the trunk release and freed herself.
