trucker hitch
Tensioning knot system
A trucker hitch is a compound knot used to secure loads, creating a mechanical advantage that allows rope to be pulled very tight.
The system uses a loop as a pulley point, multiplying the force applied.
Essential for tying down cargo on trucks, trailers, and roof racks: I threw a trucker hitch over the kayak to cinch it down.
Also called a trucker's hitch.
