A trick rider is a horseback rider who performs acrobatic stunts while mounted—standing in the saddle, hanging off the side, vaulting on and off at full gallop.
The skill developed in cavalry traditions and Wild West shows, now appearing mostly in rodeos and film stunts: The trick rider spun under the horse's belly and back up without breaking stride.
