tree decorating
Hanging festive ornaments
Tree decorating is the activity of adorning a tree—almost always a Christmas tree—with ornaments, lights, tinsel, and other festive items.
The phrase typically refers to this seasonal ritual rather than decorating trees generally: We're tree decorating this weekend.
It often carries connotations of family tradition and holiday celebration.
