train depots
Where locomotives stop
Train depots are stations where passenger trains stop for boarding and disembarking, or facilities where trains are stored, serviced, and dispatched.
The term is more common in American English than British, and often evokes older or smaller-town stations: The old train depot had been converted into a restaurant.
Depot emphasizes the building itself rather than the broader station complex.
