trade area
Retailer's customer region
A trade area is the geographic region from which a business draws its customers.
Retail analysts map trade areas to understand market reach: The new grocery store's trade area extends about five miles in each direction.
The term also applies to zones designated for commerce, like free trade areas where tariffs are reduced or eliminated between participating countries.
