top 40s
Popular music rankings
Top 40s refers to the most popular songs on music charts, typically ranked by radio airplay or sales.
The term evokes mainstream pop music: She only listens to top 40s stuff.
It can carry dismissive connotations, implying formulaic or superficial taste: I'm not really into top 40s.
Also written top 40, top-40, or Top 40.
