timberjack

One who logs

A timberjack is a hand tool used in logging to lift and rotate felled logs, making them easier to cut.

It consists of a hooked metal lever mounted on a handle, allowing a single worker to manipulate heavy timber: He used a timberjack to roll the log onto the sawbuck.

Also called a cant hook or log jack.
