tick boxes
Mark your choices
Tick boxes are small squares on forms or interfaces that users mark to indicate selection or completion.
The term is primarily British; Americans say checkboxes.
To tick boxes figuratively means to fulfill requirements mechanically without genuine engagement: The training was just ticking boxes for compliance.
