through-hikers

End-to-end walkers

Through-hikers are people who hike an entire long-distance trail from end to end in a single continuous journey, as opposed to section hikers who complete trails in segments over multiple trips.

The term is most associated with major trails like the Appalachian Trail or Pacific Crest Trail: Through-hikers typically take four to six months to complete the AT.

The activity is through-hiking.
