Thermal pants are insulated undergarments designed to retain body heat in cold conditions.
They fit snugly against the skin, typically worn as a base layer beneath regular clothing: I always pack thermal pants for winter camping.
Also called long johns or long underwear.
The thermal refers to their heat-trapping properties rather than any external heat source.
