test shoot
Pre-production camera trial
A test shoot is a preliminary photography or video session to evaluate how subjects, equipment, lighting, or concepts will perform before a formal production.
Models do test shoots to build portfolios; photographers use them to experiment with new techniques: We scheduled a test shoot to see how she'd look on camera.
In film, test shoots help refine visual approaches before committing to full production.
