terrestrial radio
Over-the-air broadcasting
Terrestrial radio is traditional broadcast radio transmitted from ground-based towers, as opposed to satellite radio or internet streaming.
The term emerged to distinguish the older technology once alternatives appeared: I still listen to terrestrial radio in the car.
It covers AM and FM stations that broadcast over public airwaves.
