temperate zones
Between tropics, poles
Temperate zones are the regions of Earth between the tropics and the polar circles, characterized by moderate climates with distinct seasons.
The northern temperate zone lies between the Tropic of Cancer and the Arctic Circle; the southern between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Antarctic Circle.
These latitudes experience neither the year-round heat of the tropics nor the extreme cold of polar regions: Most of Europe falls within the temperate zone.
