technical lead
Team's coding chief
A technical lead is a senior engineer who guides a development team's technical decisions and architecture while typically still writing code themselves.
The role bridges hands-on work and management: reviewing others' code, mentoring junior developers, and translating business requirements into technical approaches.
She was promoted to technical lead after three years on the team.
Unlike a manager, a tech lead's authority stems from expertise rather than hierarchy.
