tearings
Acts of shredding
Tearings are acts or instances of ripping, pulling apart, or forcibly separating.
The word functions as either a plural noun or a verb form: The tearings in the fabric revealed its age or She was tearings through the house looking for her keys.
The latter construction is nonstandard—tearing alone serves as the present participle.
