teaching practice
Classroom training period
Teaching practice is supervised classroom experience for trainee teachers, typically part of a certification program.
Student teachers observe and then lead lessons under the guidance of experienced educators: She's doing her teaching practice at an elementary school this semester.
The term is more common in British than American English, where "student teaching" predominates.
