tea picking
Plucking young leaves
Tea picking is the harvesting of tea leaves from tea plants, typically done by hand to select only the youngest, most tender leaves and buds.
The quality of tea depends heavily on which leaves are picked—the bud and top two leaves yield the finest grades.
Tea picking season begins in early spring.
The work is labor-intensive and traditionally performed by women in tea-growing regions.
