tax hearing
IRS dispute session
A tax hearing is a formal proceeding where a taxpayer disputes a tax assessment, penalty, or other decision by a tax authority.
These hearings occur before a judge, administrative law officer, or review board, giving taxpayers the opportunity to present evidence and argue their case: We requested a tax hearing to challenge the audit findings.
The term also applies to legislative hearings where lawmakers examine proposed tax policies.
