take on board

Internalize and consider

Take on board means to accept or internalize something, especially information, advice, or criticism.

The expression comes from the literal sense of loading cargo or passengers onto a ship, but now almost always refers to mental acceptance rather than physical loading.

If you take someone's feedback on board, you genuinely consider it and incorporate it into your thinking or actions.

I've taken your concerns on board and will revise the proposal.

The phrase is particularly common in British English.
