tailor-fashion

Seated legs crossed

Tailor-fashion describes sitting cross-legged on the floor, the way tailors traditionally sat while sewing.

The posture allowed them to work with fabric spread across their laps: The children sat tailor-fashion in a circle.

The term is somewhat old-fashioned; cross-legged is now more common.
