tailgate traditions
Pre-game parking festivities
Tailgate traditions are the customs and rituals associated with pre-game gatherings in parking lots, typically before American football games.
These involve setting up around the open tailgate of a vehicle to grill food, drink beer, play lawn games, and socialize with fellow fans.
Each group develops its own traditions—particular recipes, team chants, or lucky rituals—that become part of the game-day experience.
Our tailgate traditions include my dad's secret chili recipe and cornhole tournaments.
