swoopers
Birds that plunge
Swoopers are writers who draft quickly and loosely, then revise extensively—contrasted with bashers, who perfect each sentence before moving on.
The term comes from Kurt Vonnegut's distinction between writing styles.
In other contexts, swoopers are birds or aircraft that dive downward, or people who swoop in to grab something: The swoopers descended on the clearance rack.
