switchout

Substituting one thing

A switchout is an exchange or replacement, typically when one thing is removed and another put in its place.

The term appears most often in casual or technical contexts where components, personnel, or items are rotated: We did a quick switchout of the batteries before the shoot.

As a verb phrase, switch out carries the same meaning: Can you switch out the old filters for new ones?
