superwash
Machine-safe yarn
Superwash describes wool that has been treated to prevent shrinking and felting when machine washed.
The process removes or coats the microscopic scales on wool fibers that normally interlock and mat together in water and heat.
Superwash yarn is popular with knitters who want easy-care finished garments: I only use superwash wool for baby items.
