Natural wool is wool in its unprocessed or minimally processed state, retaining the oils, texture, and characteristics it had when shorn from the sheep.

The term distinguishes untreated fibers from wool that has been bleached, dyed, or chemically treated: a sweater made from natural wool, natural wool retains lanolin.

It may also contrast with synthetic fibers marketed as wool alternatives.
