superhero landing
Knee-down dramatic arrival
A superhero landing is a dramatic pose struck when dropping from a great height, characterized by one knee down, one fist planted on the ground, and head bowed—often creating a small crater or shockwave on impact.
The move became a comic book and action movie cliché, later mocked for being impractical: That superhero landing looks cool but would destroy your knees.
The term now extends to any theatrical arrival designed to look impressive.
